PROJECT DESCRIPTION
What is reality, anyway? The fifth issue of the oversized art periodical Pan & The Dream ponders that question with a mesmerizing dreamscape of text and photography inspired by the concept of the ‘Supernatural.’ The result is a trippy exploration of the interstitial places that exist between perception, emotion, imagination, wakefulness, sleep—and so-called reality.
With a large A3 format, the design presents the reader with an ultra condensed typography emphasizing the supernatural — the narrow space between perception, emotion, imagination, wakefulness, sleep — and so-called reality. The large blocky triple-condensed typeface creates intriguing textural content shapes that inform the reader through unexpected compositions — shifting and scaling to content and image, yet contained by the grid. In addition, the unbound nested format allows the folded pages of art to make unpredictable relationships, creating new realities. Finally, five different covers and back covers add different perceptions for various readers.
