PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Inside Oracle’s new 1MM SF global HQ in Austin, an eclectic collection of more than 200 experiential installations encourages employee interaction and connection while delivering rich content about the culture, flora/fauna, and history of the Lone Star State to new recruits. Complementing the building’s more traditional signage system — also designed by our team — the art and graphics program provides an intuitive navigation system that helps employees and visitors orient themselves and describe their place in space via nameable, 2- and 3-dimensional landmarks instead of the often-cryptic room numbering systems of facilities. Interpretive plaques accompany most installations and act as a guided tour of Texas.
Seeking to bring delight to the workplace and offer a break from hours of screen-based work, we programmed various types of low-fi interactions throughout the 50K SF floor plates, then researched, wrote, designed, art directed, documented, sourced, produced, and managed the fabrication of the complete collection. Most installations are highly integrated with interior themes and finishes, and interactive moments were designed to ensure accessible use by all. Reflecting the client’s interest in celebrating regional creative talent, the project also includes the work of more than 25 Texas artists, illustrators, and photographers.
